Over the years news viewers figured it out, of course. "You rarely look down at your script! Amazing!" "How do you memorize all that news copy every night" people used to ask me. But despite its awkwardness and tendency to humiliate actors by suddenly running backwards, it undeniably gave anchormen a good chance to look cool, calm, and in control. Then you would need to run cables to another electronic device that contained and controlled the words that would appear in front of the TV lens. You had to hang a black-and-white monitor below the lens of the camera and mount the reflective magic glass on a bracket that could support the weight of both. Since their infancy, teleprompter set-ups have been large, bulky, and expensive. Those evil cue cards, in other words, can finally be put out of our misery. It used to be something that only fully equipped studios would have, but now there is no excuse for not having a teleprompter wherever one would be helpful, including commercial auditions. The teleprompter, an indispensable tool for TV news broadcasters since the 80s, has grown up. This is one prompter app I can recommend. If you've ever auditioned for a commercial where you were asked to read cue cards, held somewhere in the vicinity of the camera, and hated every impossible second of trying to do it well, your moment has come. I have used this as a prompter for national celebrities and they say it’s as good as a studio prompter. I don’t take any stars off for that part, though, because Bluetooth has its own quirks. Bluetooth is, unfortunately, unreliable in the field, and that is my only complaint about this app. if you are in the field, you can use someone’s personal hotspot on their phone as a common Wi-Fi connection. I find an iPhone works well as a controller if you have a common Wi-Fi connection with an iPad. Plus, changing the size of the font and margins is intuitive and simple. It’s easy to paste copy in from most sources. I use an iPhone as a controller with an iPad as a display. This one works, is priced reasonably and is easy to use. I have tried a lot of prompter apps and they usually are difficult to use or they don’t work well with remotes. * Control the script remotely using a Bluetooth presentation remote, foot pedal, games controller, external keyboard or even another Mac or iOS device. * Mirror your text for use in a physical teleprompter device. * Adjust the font size, colours, text alignment, and width of the text area. * Add Rich Text formatting to make them easier to read. * Import your scripts from Dropbox, Google Drive, iCloud or OneDrive in. * Display a clock to help you stick to time. * Change scrolling speed and pause the scrolling when going 'off script'. * Scroll the teleprompter using voice recognition (on compatible devices) or speed control. This app does NOT require a monthly or annual subscription. For longer scripts, there is a one-off in-app purchase. It's free for scripts of up to 750 characters and also works on iOS devices. You will present with confidence and engage your audience with excellent eye contact. Simply position Prompt+ over the Zoom meeting, and read your script as it scrolls next to the camera. Prompt+ can be used with Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet and many other video conferencing apps as well as Facebook Live. Simply read your script as it scrolls up the screen. Prompt+ is a professional teleprompter app which helps you present with confidence.
